AlleyCat Comics Top 10 Horror Comics

December 11, 2016

It's that time of year again. Ghosts and goblins alike come out of the cracks, making us look behind ourselves when the wind blows.

I don't know about everyone else but I LOVE to be scared! The adrenaline rush. The hairs standing up on the back of my neck. That creepy feeling that you're not alone.

If you're like me and you love a good scare, here are a few chillers and thrillers to help you through one of the best holidays ever...HALLOWEEN!!!

1.  Afterlife with Archie

When Jughead's beloved pet Hot Dog is killed in a hit and run, Jughead turns to the only person he knows who can help bring back his canine companion - Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Using dark, forbidden magic, Sabrina is successful and Hot Dog returns to the land of the living. But he's not the same - and soon, the darkness he brings back with him from beyond the grave begins to spread, forcing Archie and the gang to try to escape Riverdale!

2. Locke & Key

The Eisner-nominated Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them, and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all!

3. Nailbiter

"Where do serial killers come from?" and why has Buckaroo, Oregon given birth to sixteen of the most vile serial killers in the world? NSA Agent Nicholas Finch needs to solve that mystery in order to save his friend, and he'll have to team up with the infamous Edward "Nailbiter" Warren to do it.
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON & MIKE HENDERSON deliver a mystery that mixes Twin Peaks with the horror of Se7en!

4.  Severed

12-year-old Jack Garron runs away from home to find his biological father, a wayward minstrel. Along the way he meets up with a traveling salesman whose winning smile is fake, beneath which hide his real teeth... jagged spikes that he uses to eat children.

5.  Uzumaki

Kurozu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world. It manifests itself in everything from seashells and whirlpools in water to the spiral marks on people's bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi's father and the voice from the cochlea in our inner ear. As the madness spreads, the inhabitants of Kurozu-cho are pulled ever deeper into a whirlpool from which there is no return!

6.  The Walking Dead

An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.
THIS ISSUE: Rick Grimes is not prepared for this. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family he must now sort through the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son.

7.  Wytches

When the Rooks family moves to the remote town of Litchfield, NH to escape a haunting trauma, they're hopeful about starting over. But something evil is waiting for them in the woods just beyond town. Watching from the trees. Ancient...and hungry.

8.  Harrow County

Emmy always knew that the woods surrounding her home crawled with ghosts and monsters. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she learns that she is connected to these creatures-and to the land itself-in a way she never imagined.

9.  Clean Room

Meet Astrid Mueller, the enigmatic leader of a giant self-help organization. Journalist Chloe Pierce's fiancé committed suicide after reading Astrid's book-and now Chloe is determined to find out who Astrid Mueller really is and learn the secret of the Clean Room, where your deepest fears are revealed.
